A little over a month ago 21 Rosemary Lane's home tour was featured over at the wonderful blog Debbiedoo's...I love Debbie. Anyhow, it recently occurred to me that I never posted a home tour here on my own blog. To give you a little background, our home is a mid century expanded Cape Cod. Most of our furniture is either very old, from a garage sale, a road side find, or the always exciting Restore score. End result, eclectic living on a shoestring budget and, everything has its story! As you may already know, we have two school age children and one very big black dog named Buster, so the thought of buying new, on more than one level, was not going to fly in our hectic household.
So if you missed my tour over at Debbie's here is 21 Rosemary Lane.
In our entry is a piece I fondly call the phone company piece. This sideboard was purchaed by my parents back in 1968 when they were having a phone line installed in their newly renovated kitchen. Accidentally, Ma Bell punched a hole through the wall so they cut my parents a check for $200. My dad fixed the wall himself and my mom bought this piece. About 3 years ago I refinished the top and painted the body, now I love it!!!
My little green chair was a freebie when I purchased a desk at a yard sale a few years back. I painted it with Annie Sloan's Antibes green chalk paint.
Here's our living room...Mr Rosemary Lane built the bookshelves and just recently installed the new mantel and surround.
The green chair is a ReStore find and the coffee table was a roadside find...lucky me!!!
My hubby's old sofa's are covered with Surefit slipcovers.
Next up is our kitchen...one of the main reasons why we purchased this home.
I'll let you in on a little secret...I am repainting the table base and chairs, and recovering the chair pads...hopefully it will be finished by the week's end!
Here's our dining room...this room was painted red 10 years ago when jewel tones were all the rage...I am ready for a change...
...but I do like the red at Christmas.
Off of our kitchen is the screened in porch.
Both the wicker loveseat above and the serving cart below were road side finds.
The floor is painted concrete!
Now on to the upstairs .
First up is Grace's room which I did do a post on in back in January.
Her dresser and nightstand were part of my parent's first bedroom set.
The pink vanity was a yardsale find for only $5.
Here's our bedroom...I am currently in the planning process to revamp this space. I bought new bedding and plan to paint and purchase new window treatments.
Lastly is Michael's room. Michael loves red but I wasn't about to put it on another wall in our home, so the furniture got a makeover instead. Originally it was all white...and from the bedroom I shared with my sister when we were little girls.
The headboard is another ReStore purchase...I stripped and painted it and added Michael's name.
We do have two other rooms, one is our office which is currently ahhh not looking very pretty these days, and another bedroom on the main floor. The kids use this room as their playroom right now, but in the future, when we don't want to be upstairs with the kids anymore, we plan to reclaim the room as the master suite.
Hope you all are enjoying the weekend. We had one amazingly gorgeous day today, and according to our trusty weatherman there is another one on tap for tomorrow!
